Summary
The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is seeking a Supervisory Social Worker to join our team at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center-University Drive facility.

- https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The incumbent serves as Supervisory Social worker at the GS-12 grade and is responsible for all personnel management responsibilities for VA Pittsburgh Master of Social Work (MSW) Trainees and provides clinical supervision to social workers assigned to the lodging and accommodations team.
- A substantial portion of the workload directed by this position is carried out at the University Drive campus, with muti campus requirement for supervision and coverage as necessary.
- The incumbent must travel between VAPHS main facilities and VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinics as needed.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Major duties include but are not limited to the following: Conducts onboarding, supervises equipment management, oversees clinical competencies and performance management, and provides additional administrative oversight.
- Provides professional and administrative management of both the Hoptel program and MSW Trainee program areas under the Comprehensive Social Services Care Line operating across all VAPHS campuses.
- Performs social work clinical services within the Hoptel program, including associated program coordination responsibilities.
- Provides daily operational management, program coordination, and clinical oversight for both the VA Pittsburgh Hoptel Program and the MSW Trainee Program.
- Leads program planning, development and implementing policies and procedures pertaining to Hoptel guests.
- Collaborates with the medical services to address complex challenges in coordinating lodging before medical appointments and surgical procedures or as part of the medical campion program.
- Coordinates program improvement projects and will be responsible for communication with multiple other VA departments and programs to ensure continuous operation and improvements to the program.
- Monitors purchases made by the program, including the complete fiscal management and oversight of the Hoptel and other required accommodations necessary at local hotel rooms necessary to maintain access to care at VHAPHS and meet increased demand when appropriate.
- Plans, implements, and coordinate graduate Social Work Education programs with affiliated universities and colleges.
- The incumbent will organize and implement 5-8 didactic training events for interns and fellows.
- Trains, supervises, and consults with Social Work staff at all clinical and administrative levels in their role as Field Instructor with affiliated universities and colleges.
- May be involved in research that is related to assessment and evaluation of the MSW Trainee Program for constant quality improvements.
- Ensures the MSW Trainee Program’s policies, procedures, and guidelines are consistent with VA Pittsburgh education program standards.
- Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
- When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
- Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year).
- Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
- Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
