Duties
- Duties include but not limited to: Demonstrates proficiency of the following core informatics functions to include content management, application support, health information technology system optimization, enterprise data management, business architecture management, partnership management, requirements management, and change management.
- Informaticist Registered Nurse (RN) exercises leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of hardware and software applications integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and associated programs/applications.
- The Informaticist collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility/practice setting and network.
- They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide.
- The Informaticist will assist in directing the provision of education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation.
- PRACTICE: Leads professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to improve evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for an identified patient population and/or specialized areas within immediate practice setting.
- Synthesizes available data, information, and knowledge relevant to the situation to identify patterns and variances. 2.
- Provides leadership at the unit/group or team level to enable healthcare capabilities and the evolution of technology adjoined to the EHR thereby delivering quality care by developing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing informatics tools and access to them. 3.
- Applies proficient skills in nursing informatics, problem-solving, and clinical knowledge/judgment to guide/support staff in planning, executing, and evaluating outcomes of unit level quality or performance improvement initiatives. 4.
- Develops recommendations and nursing informatics strategies to address and resolve complex issues and problems, in collaboration with key stakeholders. 5.

Requirements
