Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy & submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties
- The inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) will work in the MedSurg Unit.
- This RN will be responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants.
- This RN will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement.
- Major duties include but are not limited to: Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities.
- Responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
- Performs ongoing assessments, noting changes in condition, and provides appropriate interventions.
- Provides IV drug infusions of various medications with nurse driven titration per protocol and procedures.
- Recognizes emergency situations and demonstrates effective action in emergencies.
- Administers medications and procedures as established in policies and guidelines.
- Assures detailed, current, and comprehensive documentation is contained in the patient medical record and other pertinent records.
- Functions independently and demonstrates the ability to assign, organize and delegate assessed needs to other member of the interdisciplinary team and peers.
- Influences care outcomes coordinating and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care based on established standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements
