Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties
- The Critical Care Registered Nurse duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides direct care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems.
- Provides high intensity care and vigilance, while refining assessment skills and blending in data obtained from a variety of invasive/noninvasive monitoring technology.
- Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting.
- Leads professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to improve evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for an identified patient population and/or specialized areas within immediate practice setting

- Eligibility: May be authorized after successful completion of unit orientation (40 hours per week required until successful completion of orientation).; Adherence to hospital policy and procedures, including leave policy required to qualify for 72/80. 12-hour tours required with 72/80 schedules. Requirements
- Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
