Summary
The Research Services Directorate (RSD) at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) is currently seeking interested applicants for the position of Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) in the Research Systems Integration Branch (RSIB). Duties

- Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
- As a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) expert, plans, develops, and administers programs, procedures and internal controls in an aircraft environment.
- Conducts QA on fixed wing aircraft, including avionics, electronics, airframes, power plants, mechanical modifications, and general aircraft airworthiness in accordance with NASA and FAA regulations and requirements.
- Conducts aircraft safety inspections to identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions which could cause damage to aircraft and personnel.
- Serves as adviser on matters of aviation ground safety.
- Reviews procurement documents, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure adequate quality requirements are provided in acquisitions.
- Manages quality surveillance of programs (e.g., aircraft records, metrology and calibration, foreign object damage, tool control, ground support equipment, fuel surveillance, HAZMAT, oil analysis, weight/balance, and unapproved parts).
- Manages aircraft weight and balance program.
- Performs Maintenance manual and flight manual change tracking.
- Performs aircraft configuration control.
- Investigates and analyzes adverse quality trends and conditions and initiates corrective action.
- Develops monitoring and measurement plans to troubleshoot contributing factors.
