Duties

  • Provide practical nursing care to patients in the outpatient clinic with a variety of medical conditions, performing tasks such as recording vital signs, ordering labs, tracking laboratory/radiology orders, referral results, and making appointments.
  • Initiates and maintains medical histories on patients, records observations, and identifies symptoms for use by the clinician.
  • Administers prescribed medications with increased independence, ensuring proper patient dosages, routes, and times are followed.
  • Prepares and delivers oral, topical, and injectable forms while monitoring for and responding to side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Assists in performing and managing medical procedures, physical examinations, and treatments.
  • Utilizes electronic health record and information technology as effective communication and management tools to facilitate the patient experience and coordination.
  • Provides patient and family education tailored to specific medical conditions, treatment plans, and recovery goals.
