Summary
The OKC VA is looking for a Physician Assistant (Neurology) at the Reynolds Hospital in Fort Sill, OK.
Duties
- Duties include but are not limited to: Review and report test results, coordinate referrals, collaborate with private care providers for patient care.
- Provide follow-up care to patients with complex headache syndromes and general neurological conditions towards the goal of clinical stabilization.
- Evaluate and coordinate multidisciplinary treatments of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, orthotics and prosthetics for the Neurology patient population.
- Provide orders of other treatment modalities including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Speech Language, Wound Care, and the fitting of orthotics and prosthetics.
- Coordinate timely participation and case discussion with other members of the Neurology & Rehabilitation team to properly assess patients with neurological complaints.
- Communicate test results and care education to patients with compassion and respect.
- Conduct thorough research of patient medical records and imaging to prepare for interdisciplinary review.
- Participate in continued development, improvement and expansion of all aspects of the Neurology program to maximize quality and efficiency of care.
- Notify and consult with the Primary Care Providers and Home Based Primary Care providers over any pertinent or critical data.
- Provide in-person patient care, electronic consults, Veterans Video Connect, telephone and any other resources available to coordinate care.
- Provide respectful, patient, compassionate explanations for the Veteran on the plan of care, orders, testing, evaluations, consults and follow through with the Veteran in every aspect of the personalized plan.
- Evaluate for prostheses, perform dressing changes, order wound care supplies, liquid nutrition, and all medications related to Neurology/Rehabilitation cases.
- Maintain professional working relationships with EEG Lab, EMG/NCS Lab, Rehabilitation Services including Power Mobility Clinic, Spine Clinic, SCI Program, Epilepsy Clinic, and other members of the General Neurology team.
- Refer patients for necessary studies, facilitate and order for Amputee Clinic services and Prosthetics.
- Clinical research opportunities may be available that include outcome data collection, analysis, and possible program development efforts.
- Administrative duties as directed by the service chief may include quality assurance, peer review, serving on various committees, research options or teaching.
