Summary
This position is located in the Division of Nursing, Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, NM. Incumbent directs and manages nursing activities, and is accountable for nursing care provided by the inherent departments after hours, weekends and on holidays. Duties

- Utilizes the nursing process, provides skilled and comprehensive nursing care to patients.
- Participates in advanced cardiac, trauma, pediatric, and neonatal advanced life support.
- Coordinates admissions, discharges and transfers (intra-and inter-facility).
- Coordinates call back for support departments.
- Makes nursing rounds to evaluate patient care needs, staffing, environmental and safety aspects.
- Evaluates nursing response in emergencies and recommends corrective action.
- Demonstrates effective conflict management and negotiation skills.
- Directs and manages nursing activities in all clinical areas in the absence of the Unit Supervisor and is accountable for nursing care provided by inherent departments.
- Jointly plans and collaborates with Unit nursing Supervisors and related disciplines regarding aspects of the continuity of patient care.
