Duties

  • Supervises a diverse workforce performing at the WL-06, WL-05, WG-06 and WG-05 levels and a wide number of emergency hire personnel while providing for work safety, following agency policy, manuals, and national standards.
  • Provides direct working supervision, administrative, training, technical oversight, problem solving and direction to floor activity.
  • Has responsibility and supervision for a specific functional area or equipment group in a large warehouse such general supplies, hazardous materials, accountable property, warehouse equipment, etc.
  • Works independently and/or supervises sequences of loading and unloading, developing space utilization plans, and implementing the movement of materials from dock to bin or from storage to shipping.
  • Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
  • Establishes guidelines and performance expectations/standards, makes formal appraisals of subordinates work performance and initiates recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates.
  • Keeps informed of, supports and communicates to employees equal employment opportunity (EEO) policies, plans and programs.
  • Serves as senior member on a team of material handlers involved in special projects.

Requirements

Must be a certified forklift operator in accordance with OSHA standards and be able to pass an operators test, read traffic signs, and complete trip tickets, within one year of initial employment.
