Summary

This position is located in the Agenda and Publications Group within the Office of the Secretary (OSEC), Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Relocation expenses will not be paid. THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL ADDITIONAL POSITIONS WITHIN 90 DAYS.

Duties

  • As an Information Management Specialist, the incumbent plans, develops, and makes recommendations to implement procedures for public information dissemination, and provides support in the Secretary's overall responsibility to carry out the programs of the Commission.
  • Manages and directs the planning, design, development, configuration, analysis, and implementation of FCC administration of the Agenda process, management of electronic documentation and internet information systems.
  • The incumbent is responsible for the training on and installation of new, first time, or non-standard FCC end-user internet information systems, and the Secretary's suites of website pages.
  • The incumbent provides technical and administrative direction to FCC staff and the general public regarding the Agenda process, and the release and publication of Commission items.
  • Extensive and in-depth analysis is required by the incumbent to determine the nature and extent of information needs, the specific research area, and/or the direct type of information requested in order to retrieve only the most pertinent information.
  • Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that responses are provided in a timely manner in regards to complex, technical matters.
  • Evaluates and conducts in-depth analysis regarding new techniques and methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Develops, drafts, publishes and educates others on the procedures and guidelines to ensure the timely dissemination of complex legal and technical information, and documents received on a regular basis by the office.
  • Evaluates the workload of the staff and advises senior level managers regarding the manner in which work is organized.
  • Presents and explains detailed and complicated statistical information and puts technical, hard to understand information into simple easy to understand concepts.
  • The incumbent develops standards and specifications for the implementation, modification, and adaptation of newly developed technologies.
  • Incumbent performs system upgrades for new applications and/or enhancements of existing internet, electronic documents, and information systems.
  • Incumbent identifies, verifies and evaluates new information requirements to meet FCC/OS criteria and standards.
  • For example, the incumbent develops interactive web forms with database access; designs and deploys new website suites of pages for the staff and public users of the internet site; analyze information needs; and troubleshoot existing website problems, etc.
