Duties
- INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this position is to oversee operations for fitness centers, HITT centers, and gymnasiums, along with facility staff aboard MCAGCC.
- Position reports to the Human Performance Branch Head.
- MAJOR DUTIES: Majority of the time is spent in the supervision of staff to ensure facility standards and procedures are maintained.
- Incumbent is responsible for the oversight of Marines and civilian staff members and directly supervises all Fitness Center managers.
- Ensures managers and all other staff adhere to policies and regulations of the MCCS fitness centers.
- Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approves and disapproves leave, recommends and completes personnel actions, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and submits and approves time.
- Develops staff by delegating duties and projects, mentoring and providing educational opportunities.
- Works to resolve conflicts with patrons, staff, facilities and supporting entities as they arise.
- Reports significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment to the higher-level supervisor.
- Performs visits and inspections of all facilities to maintain quality service for all patrons served annually.
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all facilities and equipment.
- Works with logistics and FMB to support managers in the maintenance of buildings.
- Ensures preventative maintenance, repairs, and fitness equipment inventory is completed in a timely manner.
- Oversees electronic system for fitness repairs and ensures all staff maintains system for their facilities.
- Routes work orders to appropriate entities.
- Uses data from system to make decisions on equipment replacement.
- Coordinates all equipment deliveries with the vendors, MCCS receiving and Fitness Facility Managers.
- Manages inventory of parts and extra equipment to be utilized when needed at facilities.
- Conducts inventories of resources and ensures adequate storage and maintenance.
- Responsible for reporting tools such as CMR and safety reports.
- Assists all Human Performance Staff in the implementation of programming to include direction of staff.
- Works with Human Performance Branch Head to execute projects in conjunction with staff members.
- Ensures staff support of Fitness Programs, Human Performance and other Semper Fit activities and events to achieve Semper Fit Mission.
- Creates policy and procedures for fitness center operation.
- Coordinates with commands on their facility needs.
- Collects data as required and reports data to department head, command and/or Semper Fit Headquarters.

- Continually evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing activities, resources, and objectives, and adapts and alters activities based on findings.
- Performs and oversees a variety of administrative tasks to include but not limited to establishing and updating operating procedures, preparing management narratives, after action reports etc.
- Coordinates with marketing staff to plan and develop promotions and advertising, commercial sponsorship, and publicity strategies.
- Coordinates and implements joint programs with other Semper Fit and MCCS activities Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.
- Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.
- Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services.
- Takes action to solve problems quickly.
- Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
