Duties

VA Careers – Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist: https://youtube.com/embed/I-4ku5UMvWM Total Rewards of an Allied Health Professional The duties of the Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist include, but are not limited to: Operate imaging equipment to obtain radiography examinations of acceptable quality, utilizing the least amount of radiation to obtain quality imaging. Perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures but receive guidance and direction regarding unfamiliar or unusual situations for more complex patient issues. Receive patient and is responsible for explaining exam to competent patients in term of the patient will comprehend. Explain potential hazards that may occur and obtain consent for examinations. Receive and interpret all radiology requests for accuracy, appropriateness; date desired and maintains a thorough knowledge of the ordering process in CPRS. Perform and complete imaging studies within the established guidelines. Operate and maximize utilization of all equipment. Coordinate examinations that require radiologist direction around physician availability, maximizing exam room effectiveness. Optimize scan times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases. Work with staff to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned workload, making day-to-day adjustments in accordance with the established priorities and additional assignments. Apply Infection Control practices and procedures for patients and staff as mandated by Medical Center and Radiology service Infection Control policies. Maintain adequate supplies and pharmaceuticals used in the department. Perform minor equipment adjustments, repairs and exercises care in the handling and safeguarding of all equipment. Comply with all safety/fire prevention rules/regulations, using protective equipment when required and provided. Maintain electronic records and files of exams performed on patients. Recognize the technical adequacy of the digital image and has the ability to adjust the image quality in the digital system. Perform other assigned duties. Work Schedule: Full-Time, 4:00pm to 12:00am, Monday – Friday (Rotating Weekends & Holidays) Pay: Competitive salary & regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
