Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Duties

Located in the Rogue Valley, White City allows easy access to Metro-area of Medford while remaining engrossed with nature. White City is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, in the Rogue Valley. It is about nine miles north of Medford and 34 miles north of the California border. Enjoy the scenic drives to either Crater Lake, Oregon’s only National Park, and to the mountain resort Lake of the Woods. Take a family-friendly hike to a waterfall or ride the only section of the Pacific Crest Trail that’s open to mountain bikers. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. The VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) Staff Dentist serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard, corrective, restorative, or preventive measures. This position reports to the Service Chief, Dental, and works with other staff, including dentists, hygienists, and assistants, in a positive and collaborative work setting with the goal of providing excellent dental care to Veterans. Duties include but not limited to: Evaluations, prophylaxis, radiographs, dental health education, fluoride treatments, sealants, composite and amalgam restorations, crowns, extractions, some endodontic and simple periodontal procedures. Provides clinical guidance including patient treatment, four-handed dentistry, infection control, OSHA guidelines, x-rays, and oral health education, knowledge and application of HIPPA/security regulations, and in compliance with VHA policy. Meets with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performs regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establishes a plan for better dental hygiene. Performs dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and fills cavities. Corrects bite issues and overcrowding. Applies helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants or whiteners. Prescribes medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics. Gives clients sedatives or anesthesia prior to administering treatments. Orders diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc. Uses tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouth. Keeps records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them. Manages and communicates with other staff members to provide care to patients. Adherence to applicable VHA, VISN, Medical Center, and Dental Service Handbooks, Directives, Policies, and Procedures as directed. Follows established performance metrics as indicated by Dental leadership to ensure quality is inherent in clinical practice and timeliness of care.
