  • As the Auditor (Data Analytics), you will serve as senior member providing expert level advice in the area of data analysis in support of an audit team conducting systematic performance reviews and audits of Postal Service programs and operations, including assessments of efficiency, adequacy of internal controls; compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and/or contracts; and detection of fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • You will support audit efforts to address complex issues and fraud by fostering cross-component collaboration and develop the framework for actionable reporting, escalating issues, and providing findings and recommendations for the Postal Service.
  • You will apply a wide range of auditing concepts, policies, analytical, and diagnostic methods and techniques to address substantive issues or problems.
  • As a successful candidate, you will have relevant experience in: Performing all assigned functions of an audit, with supervisory oversight in accordance with OIG policies and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.
  • Querying and analyzing USPS and 3rd party data sets using appropriate techniques to identify trends, risks significance, and appropriate solutions for complex issues that involve major areas of uncertainty in approach, methodology, or interpretation.
  • Designing, developing, synthesizing, and displaying quantitative data using interactive reports, dashboards, and visualizations in support of audits.
  • (e.g., Excel, SAS, Power BI, R, Python, etc.).
  • Executing data collection efforts, ensuring that evidence collected is reliable, sufficient, relevant, and properly documented in the project work papers.
  • Reviewing and interpreting complex documents such as financial documents, policies, standard operating procedures, and contracts to determine accuracy in accordance with procedures, internal directives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Using critical thinking, data analytics, and applied logic to interpret data, identify risks, evaluate strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, develop novel approaches to problems, and reach insightful conclusions.
  • Developing well-supported findings and appropriate recommendations that are cost-effective and actionable.
  • Producing audit documentation such as internal reviews, reports and message agreements, as well as audit reports and other documents that are clear, accurate, thorough, and appropriately targeted to the appropriate audience.
  • Performing lead duties as assigned, coordinating the activities of an audit area including establishing and monitoring milestones, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Conducting follow-up reviews of management actions taken to correct identified deficiencies.

  • Compensation: The USPS OIG is an Excepted Service agency, uses a Pay Banding system, which is equivalent to the Federal GS scale.
  • Grade and salary determinations will be made based upon a candidate’s education and professional experience.
  • This position is being advertised at the Journey Band level, equivalent to a GS-13.
  • The salary range for this position is $118,675.00 – $158,322.00.
