Assistant Nurse Manager – Mental Health Inpatient

Summary

The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) Mental Health Inpatient service is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team for the Assistant Nurse Manager Role! They function as a clinical expert and are responsible for all elements of the nursing process while providing or supervising direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for focused care, demonstrating sound decision-making, judgement and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.

Duties

• The Nurse Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units.
• They provide coverage for other ANMs as needed.
• The ANM has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.
• They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
• They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
• Duties include but not limited to the following: Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
• Promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organizations vision and mission.
• Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
• Adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
