Summary

Assistant Commissary Officers fully participate in managing all store activities, providing advice and guidance to other store division managers as needed, and assisting managers in developing major programs and departmental goals and objectives. Through subordinate supervisors they are directly responsible for the Front End, Customer Service and Store Operations Departments. Duties

  • Serve as the Assistant Commissary officer, responsible for all store administration functions, fully share in the overall management, direction and control of the commissary.
  • Analyze a variety of management reports to determine efficiency of operations and to recommend or implement changes.
  • Develop budget estimates and monitor program obligations and expense targets.
  • Act as store sanitation coordinator; establish controls for prevention of pilferage and ensure that sanitation, safety and security precautions are observed.
  • Responsible for all personnel functions within the commissary, such as staffing, recruitment and the development of performance standards.
  • Promote DeCA goals and objectives of the EEO and Affirmative Action Program.
  • Represent the commissary at a variety of commander's meetings, such as the Commissary Advisory Council and Base Civil Engineering meetings.
  • Monitor surveys, customer service training, and customers' suggestions and ideas.
