Duties

  • Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: The incumbent performs general clerical work in support of a fiscal nature, such as liaison with outside sources and Department of Treasury for operating advances, regarding the status of payments, initiating internal fiscal controls for processing of receiving and disturbing documents, or inputting and maintaining financial data into an automated financial system.
  • The Incumbent establishes and maintains a complex cashier function, which contributes to the effective service to our Veterans and the efficiency of Fiscal Service Operations.
  • The incumbent control's/maintains, as the central control point for the specialized monetary system utilized by the VA, including check drafts.
  • Examines, verifies, and maintains financial accounts data and classifies ac­counting transactions including the verification of the accuracy and completeness of the accounting data.
  • In the performance of duties, determination must be made on the acceptability of a wide variety of items and docu­ments, the adequacy of identification material, and the authenticity of signatures.
  • The incumbent balance's all accounts daily to ensure the disbursing fund and collections are accounted for properly.
  • The records of the alternate agent cashiers are verified to account for any collections received or dis­bursement made.
