Summary

The Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is seeking a Full-Time, Advanced Practice Nurse – Nurse Practitioner to join the Primary Care Service Line at the VA Clinic Davenport, Iowa. Note: This is an Open Continuous Announcement through September 4, 2026. The first referral cut-off is July 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST, with monthly cut-offs on the 1st.

Duties

• The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.

• As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran.

• Of the position: Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
• Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
• Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
• Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
• Provides education to patients and their families.
• Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
