Summary
THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Surface Maintenance Office (SMO), Windsor Locks, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Duties
- This is an indefinite position that may convert to permanent without further competition.
- JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to provide instruction and assistance to state unit personnel regarding Army National Guard (ARNG) equipment and maintenance management.
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of equipment maintenance and management of a variety of ARNG equipment is required.
- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
- The major duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment.
- Provides advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities.
- Prepares and conducts both classroom and on-the-job training designed to upgrade, improve, and/or update the knowledge and working skills of unit maintenance personnel.
- Evaluates directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel.
- Reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and maintenance management and needs for improvement of existing practices and the impact on the overall maintenance program.

No substitution of education for specialized experience.
