Summary
This National Guard position is for a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF)-Title 32, Position Description Number D2634P01 and is part of the WI Joint Force Headquarters-J9. This position will directly support a major subordinate command (MSC) in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
Duties
- As a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF)-Title 32, GS-0101-11, you will implement and support integrated prevention programs.
- It collaboratively identifies, implements, and assesses public health-informed and evidence-based prevention policy, practices, programs and processes.
- Supports healthy climate/culture to eliminate harassment, sexual violence, family violence and self-directed harm using a public health perspective and socio-ecological theoretical lens.
- This involves an integrated, multi-agency, and collaborative approach supporting an MSC, Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), and local programs with a nexus to integrated primary prevention (IPP) efforts.
- Serves as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; provides program coordination and serves as the subject matter expert for the unit IPP program. 2.
- Supports inter- and intra-personal violence prevention efforts and programming through the unit leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups. 3.
- Serves as the units liaison for local military and civilian agencies to promote timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish resource links and community partnerships. 4.
- Responsible for developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns within the unit. 5.
- Recruits, trains, and facilitates military volunteers for prevention activity implementation. 6.
- Collect data for the MSC and subordinate units related to readiness, well-being, and violence prevention activities in support of WIARNG and Brigade priorities. 7.
- Conducts primary prevention activities at Brigade, Battalion, and Company levels.
- Supports the Army and Air National Guard Primary Prevention Tactical Team regionally. 8.
- Will be required to support assigned unit on some drill weekends (up to 50% of scheduled drills). 9.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

- Military Grades: E6 through E9, WO1 through CW5 and O1 through O5 Conditions of Employment Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver's license is mandatory.
- This is a National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership.
- May be required to complete probationary period.
Education
Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
