Duties

  • Analyze, evaluate, and resolve user problems related to computer, network, and communication services, including Local Area Network (LAN) services.
  • Use diagnostic techniques with Fluke Local Area Networks (LAN) wire testers, which has the capability to test network interface cards, to help identify and resolve complex problems.
  • Configure, secure, and optimize Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) devices and components to include wireless access points, wireless intrusion detection system (IDS), user devices, wireless management, and security tools.
  • Develop local guidelines, standard operating procedures, bulletins, and flyers concerning the operation and use of the Medical Treatment Facility (MFT) Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) services.
  • Monitor network reliability and performance by using network monitoring equipment such as Fluke LAN meters, sniffer packet capturing and protocol analyzers, providing proactive technical support to avoid or minimize disruptions of service.
  • Serve as the Network Security Officer for the Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems.
  • Monitor, oversee, and coordinate work with Facilities Department wiring contract personnel for the hospital’s wiring infrastructure for all voice and data adds, moves, and changes. Create network maps; and troubleshoots network problems such as outages.
