Summary

This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Acute Care Outpatient Division, within the Medical Procedure Unit (MPU). The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. They provide coverage for other ANMs as needed.

Duties

  • Zablocki VA Medical Center functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
  • The person in this role assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.
  • They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
  • The Medical Procedure ANM is also responsible for the following duties: Supporting the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties.
  • Demonstrating leadership in delivering and improving holistic care using collaborative strategies with others.
  • Assuming responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, and development of staff.
  • Providing input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.
  • Engaging in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
  • Equipping staff with tools for competent care.
  • Promoting accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Cultivating alliances across the care continuum.

Requirements
