Summary

The Homemaker/Home Health Aide Program (H/HHA) program Coordinator is a position located at the Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System(CAVHCS). The incumbent is delegated the responsibility for the planning and coordination of all elements which constitute the H/HHA program.

  • This requires a high and varied level of professional expertise and collaboration to develop, revise and/or apply policies and standards which determine the scope of the Homemaker/ Home Health Aide and the duties of the program staff.
  • Major Duties include but not limited to: Responsible for the timely payment to vendor/ contacted agencies.
  • Oversee the use of respite services to veterans Responsible for implementing contract(s) for the H/HHA program.
  • Responsible for independently assuring that Central Office Geriatrics and Extended Care program standards and policies are adhered to in a timely and effective manner.
  • Administratively responsible for assuring that the Homemaker/Home Health Aide Program functions according to VHA Handbook 1140.6.
  • Practicing at the advanced level and has specialized knowledge of practice typically related to the population served within the H/HHA programs.
  • Coordinating the work responsibilities of clinical and support staff assigned to the program.
  • Ensure that the employees understand and adhere to the program directives, policies and standards as well as VAMC employee requirements.
  • Responsible for assisting with establishing and maintaining the yearly H/HHA budget, as well as assisting in balancing the fund control point.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
  • Work schedule subject to change based on agency needs.
  • Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
  • Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
  • Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
  • Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
  • Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
