Summary
This position is in the Textile Care Unit of the Environmental Management Services. The incumbent is responsible for receiving bulk lots of linens, storing linens, preparing linen orders and special orders.
Duties
- Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for receiving bulk lots of linens from the finishing units.
- Storing clean linens on storage shelves.
- Processing individual orders for clean linens for all unites from established quota sheets, and preparing the order for shipment to various units.
- Delivering linen to units in a timely manner.
- Cleaning linen delivery carts prior to stocking for distribution.
- Receiving telephone calls for linen special orders, and delivering requested items in a timely manner.
- Responsible for receiving clean uniforms, scrubs, hanging uniforms, scrubs for distribution on uniform dispensing equipment.
- Marks and/or stencils textiles; i.e. linens, uniforms, scrubs, etc; manually or using marking equipment for identification as government property.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- All other duties as assigned.

- Is exposed to noise, hot and humid conditions in designated working areas and loading docks.
- Is exposed to gases and fumes around loading dock areas.
- Is exposed to hazards in working above ground level (throughout all levels of the hospital), on slippery surfaces, or in crowded areas.
- Is exposed to the possibilities of minor cuts and bruises from linen carts and Textile Care machinery.
Requirements
- Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
