About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Dir of Clinical Support Armed Service Blood Bank Center and Blood Donor Center. Duties

  • Travel in government vehicle, set up, and participate in local blood drives as needed.
  • Register donors manually or by computer.
  • Perform personal interviews to obtain medical histories and visual inspections of blood donors.
  • Screen subjects (volunteer blood donors, autologous, and therapeutic patients) donating blood and exercises care to ensure that their blood is safe for use prior to donation.
  • Take vital signs (i.e. temperature, pulse, and blood pressure), and checks hemoglobin and/or hematocrit level ensuring that prospective donors are eligible to donate blood.
  • Monitor donor during donation process, observe for, and treat possible donor adverse reaction (i.e. light headache, passing out, convulsing, etc.).
  • Prepare donor samples and whole blood shipping documents to be sent to testing laboratory.
