Summary

You will serve as a NUCLEAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS INSPECTOR (SHIPS) LEADER in the Nuclear Inspection Division (C139G) located at Guam Detachment of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Guam is designated as a medically underserved area. Military medical facilities offer space-available primary and limited specialty medical care; however, services are not guaranteed.

Duties

  • You will Performs electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical inspections, and mechanical inspections, pre-arrival and material condition assessment inspections.
  • You will provide in-process, product, pre-test, test inspections, certification and acceptance of completed work reviews on nuclear reactor plant, refueling, and overhaul work.
  • You will be responsible for passing on instructions received from the supervisor; working with other inspectors; demonstrating proper work methods and leading by example.
  • You will ensure that needed plans, materials and tools are available; obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that come up.
  • You will maintain a current knowledge and answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (for example, technical orders).
  • You will see to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in the inspection crew busy; check inspections while in progress and when finished, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met.
  • You will advise other incumbents to follow instructions received from supervisors to meet deadlines; and ensure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • You will perform receipt inspection, pre-use inspection and marking verification of naval nuclear material ensuring proper material control and traceability is maintained.
  • You will ensure reactor grade cleanliness is maintained in accordance with local directives as required by NAVSEA specifications for reactor plant cleanliness.
  • You will maintain records of inspections performed, results of these inspections and corrective action taken in accordance with local directives.
  • You will ensure that during the performance of the preceding duties, due consideration is given to the safety of ships, equipment, and personnel.
  • You will perform surveillances of ongoing or completed work to ensure compliance with all applicable directives.
  • This requires the know-how, where to go, and how to perform a surveillance of all nuclear trades.
