Summary

About the Position: The Occupational Therapy Assistant serves as the OTA for a designated work area with the medical treatment facility (MTF), working under the general supervision of an Occupational Therapist as required by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) supervision guidelines and standards of practice. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized.

Duties

  • In consultation with supervising Occupational therapist, implements treatment plans in an individual or group setting.
  • Under supervising Occupational therapist determines indications and contraindications for treatment and develops a treatment program according to the established goals in the treatment plan.
  • Interviews the client and family members to gather historical information for initial and ongoing treatment and assessments.
  • Discusses treatment goals with the family members, pertinent personnel, and other caregivers to facilitate goal achievement.
  • Assists the OTR in the development of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes long and short-term goals.
  • Documents information related to all patients care in accordance with guidelines from the American Occupational Therapy Association, The Joint Commission (JC), current military protocols and as instructed by supervisor.
  • Completes required data collection for workload management, analysis and research studies.
  • Maintains treatment areas, administrative areas, and personal spaces in a safe, orderly manner.
  • Performs non-technical maintenance of equipment to prevent malfunctions.
  • Contributes to the marketing of occupational therapy throughout the facility.
