Summary

This National Guard position is for a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2169P01 and is part of the Logistics Readiness Sq located in SLC UT, with the Utah Air National Guard. Duties

  • Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0346-12, you will: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
  • Appraises subordinate workers' performance ensuring consistency and equity in rating techniques.
  • Identifies employee developmental needs and provides or arranges for training(formal and on-the-job) to maintain and improve job performance.
  • Promotes an environment in which employees are empowered to participate in and contribute to effective mission accomplishment.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to wing leadership on business processes and performance and efficiency of logistics readiness functions of the squadron /flight as it impacts the Wing.
  • Provides technical oversight for squadron/flight plans, goals and standards for readiness and performance capabilities of the squadron/flight on.
  • Responsible for programs associated with squadron/flight business processes, resource management(facilities, equipment, budget, stock control and infrastructure), squadron/flight analysis, systems management, strategic planning, metrics and training.
  • Establishes metric and analysis systems for subordinate organizations to assess efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with procedures.
  • Recommends methods to help the squadron/flight optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manages and performs work for providing training, resources, and systems to ensure the efficient and effective operation of installation deployment processes.
  • Ensures proper identification of AEF taskings, unit assessments of readiness capabilities (e.g.
  • SORTS), limiting factors, common expeditionary skills training, storage and inspection of unit readiness programs.
  • Analyzes base ready program requirements, develops get-well strategies and reports findings to squadron/flight, group and command staffs and agents.
  • Designs and implements programs to train and prepare units to fulfill expeditionary combat support(ECS) capabilities requirements associated with organizing units to open, establish and operate forward bases to include assessing austere locations to determine requirements to sustain forces and operating locations, position, recovering and reconstituting forces.
  • Evaluates all manpower, resource, procedural, and capability issues impacting mobility readiness, air terminal operations, and base deployment activities.
  • Responsible for the Deployment Management System that insures all base personnel are ready to deploy.
  • As the squadron/flight technical advisor on logistics readiness and AEF issues, performs/leads studies, and provides technical advice and assistance on development and implementation of readiness mission capabilities.
  • Responsible for smooth operations, to include working with subordinate chiefs, to ensure efficient flow of operations to meet wing and squadron/flight objectives Provides advice concerning the evaluation of new technological developments for use by the LRS community; evaluates and recommends process improvements.
  • Represents the wing regarding logistics readiness issues at meetings within the organization and at conferences with JFHQ-State, USPFO, NG, MAJCOM, HQ USAF, DoD, and other agencies.
  • Plans, organizes, and maintains oversight of the activities of the Logistics Readiness Squadron/flight, ensuring the planning efforts and work products and services of all the squadron/flight functions comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
  • Establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design for the staff, as necessary to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or in response to concerns with regulatory compliance and/or customer requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state’s National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Rank: Officer/ O4 Compatible Military Assignments: 21R3 Military membership in the Utah Air National Guard is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. Pending analysis, you may be required to complete a new 1-year probationary period when moved to this position IAW CNGBI 1400.25.

For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire. Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
