About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine in Honolulu, Hawaii. Duties
- Serve as the day/night/weekend Physician (Hospitalist) for Inpatient Medicine and assists in an outpatient clinic of a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), as needed.
- Perform highly responsible duties in the advanced examination, diagnosis and treatment of inpatients for the Internal Medicine Service.
- Evaluate laboratory and clinical findings; differentiating among the various contributory causes and prescribes appropriate treatment.
- Follow through on cases to ensure effectiveness and alters course of treatment as indicated.
- Collaborate with specialists in other areas on cases involving interrelated problems.
- Serve as the attending physician and admits and discharges patients to the Medical Wards and Step-Down units.
- Treat patients including age ranges from young adult to geriatric.
- Work closely with the MTF's primary care providers, military consultants and civilian consultants in the local community.
- Attend key medical meetings and conferences and serve as a subject-matter expert on areas of inpatient medicine.
- Serve as academic faculty and facilitates teaching and training of trainees.
- Plan, schedule, assign and direct the work of others; establishes work priorities and deadlines; explains work requirements, methods and procedures: as needed; and reviews work upon completion.
- Establish standards of performance and evaluates performance of students and residents.
