Duties
- Serves as a Senior Operations Research Analyst and Chief Data and Analytics Officer, U.S.
- Army Materiel Command (AMC), and as the Principal Advisor to the AMC Command Group (Commanding General, Deputy to the Commanding General, and Executive Deputy to the Commanding General) with responsibility for providing advice and assistance concerning policy, studies, and projects of special interest to the AMC Command Group.
- Represents AMC leadership in senior Army forums when analytical expertise is necessary.
- Performs analytical studies at the behest of the AMC Command Group.
- Recommends management initiatives required to structure and implement AMC programs.
- Exercises technical direction for assigned programs and functions, including front-end analyses required to define management and study issues, and development of those issues into comprehensive study requirements.
- Exercises broad technical and leadership competence in resolving technical or analytical issues, responding to inquiries, dealing with other analytical elements within the Army and those of other services, and in convincing Senior Leaders of the need for a particular course of action or change in a program and/or policy.
- Provides near-term, mid-term, and long-term strategic planning reports to the Commanding General, AMC.
- Incumbent for this position receives no technical supervision.
- Incumbent is an authority in the specialty area and provides expert guidance and information to all levels of the government.
- Incumbent also functions as a consultant in research and development programs which are joint service and national and international in scope.
- The programs planned, coordinated, and reviewed involve advanced work in several scientific and engineering disciplines and areas of application.
Requirements
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position. You must be able to submit and pass designated and/or Random Drug Testing as required. You must be able to obtain/maintain the appropriate clearance and access level for this position. This is a Critical Acquisition Position.
This is a Key Leadership Position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. Direct Deposit of Pay is Required. This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278e) upon entry, and annually thereafter. The incumbent is required to travel on both scheduled and unscheduled aircraft, and other modes as required, under conditions specified under the DoW Joint Travel Regulations.
The incumbent is expected to travel on short notice to attend high level meetings to obtain resolution of problems and gather information to assist in the decision making process.
Education
Educational Requirement: Degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
